How We Work
Studio Kestrel designs residential and hospitality interiors for clients who value calm, clarity, and long-term comfort as much as visual beauty. Our work is rooted in the belief that a well-designed space should support how you live—physically, emotionally, and day to day.
We work with natural materials, curved forms, and considered proportions to create interiors that feel grounded, cohesive, and quietly refined. Every project is approached holistically, balancing aesthetics with function, flow, and the lived experience of the space.

Our Process
Our process is intentionally structured to support thoughtful decision-making and strong outcomes. We take on a limited number of projects each year to ensure every client receives focused attention and a highly collaborative experience.
Design Consultation
The first step in working together is a 2-hour paid design consultation. This working session allows us to understand your goals, assess scope and feasibility, and provide meaningful guidance grounded in our organic modern approach. During the consultation, we will:
-
Discuss your vision, priorities, and lifestyle needs
-
Review layout, flow, and aesthetic direction
-
Identify opportunities, constraints, and next steps
-
Address questions around scope, timeline, and investment
This consultation is best suited for clients who are seriously considering a renovation, new build, or furnishing project and value professional expertise and collaboration.
Moving Forward
If the consultation confirms a strong mutual fit, we will outline a proposal for ongoing design services tailored to your project scope and goals.

Project Phases
This process is intentionally structured to support clarity, informed decision-making, and well-executed outcomes. We work through a defined series of phases that guide the project from initial direction to final completion, with focus, consistency, and close collaboration at every stage.
Phase 1 - Concept Development
During Concept Development, we translate your needs and vision into a cohesive design direction. This phase defines the spatial layout, overall aesthetic, and furnishing approach, and is presented through 3D concept renderings that establish the foundation for the entire project.
Phase 2 - Design Documentation
During Design Documentation, the approved concept is translated into detailed technical drawings and specifications. This phase defines all finishes, furnishings, lighting, and electrical plans, providing the complete documentation required for accurate pricing, coordination, and execution of the project.
Phase 3 - Procurement & Project Management
Procurement and Project Management covers the ordering, coordination, and execution of all approved elements. We oversee production, deliveries, site coordination, and installation to ensure every detail is executed as designed, on schedule, and to the expected standard.
Phase 4 - Install & Styling
Install and Styling brings the design to life on site. All furnishings are delivered, installed, and carefully styled, while final adjustments are made to ensure the space is fully resolved and aligned with the approved design before moving into project closeout.

RECENT PROJECTS
Southampton Family Retreat
Southampton NY, Full-home furnishing + interior design
The Brief
The client sought a warm, serene sanctuary in the Hamptons—an intentional retreat from New York City where her family could relax, play, and reconnect with nature. The home needed to feel elevated yet joyful, stylish yet deeply livable, and expressive without feeling overwhelming.
Our Approach
Nature-inspired hues were introduced through layered wallpapers, paint, upholstery, and textiles to bring warmth and personality into the home. Organic materials, warm wood furnishings, and curated plantings softened the architecture and created a sense of ease throughout.
Spaces were carefully designed to support family life and togetherness:
-
A game room with poker table, foosball, and arcade games
-
A media room anchored by a large, curved sectional for shared movie nights
-
A living room with conversational and fireside seating zones
-
An expansive dining table designed to host extended family and guests
